Bon Min
Bon Min is a type designer and an Assistant Professor at Hongik University. He holds a BA from Seoul National University, an MFA in Typography from the University of Barcelona, and an MA in Typeface Design from the University of Reading, UK. Since then, he has moved around the US and various Asian countries, continuously immersing himself in diverse typography cultures, which have enriched his research and work. Notably, Bon spent six years as a designer in the Design Team at Apple's Cupertino headquarters, where he was directly involved in designing almost all of Latin alphabets, numerals, and symbols used in their three operating systems (iOS, MacOS, and WatchOS).
His primary interests revolve around exploring the connections between Western and East Asian typography cultures and applying these insights to actual type design. Building on this passion, he has established and taught type design courses at his department, and he supervises research on related topics. His vision of multicultural type design is being realized through collaborations with major Korean international companies, including Hyundai Motors, Kia Motors, Genesis, and Kakao Corporate, among others.
